The Sojourn of Causality
Causality stories will always have time as the mechanic that drives conflict in the central relationship, whether that's omniscience or time travel.

After centuries spent getting high and raving through a future that can no longer surprise him, Avero meets Lirena, the one woman whose past he cannot see: she came from a bootstrap paradox only he could have created. To preserve her existence, they must try to break the loop that made her—even though succeeding will erase her.

Setting
Arumena began as a fishing settlement on a river so abundant that the city still shares its name: river of plenty. By Avero and Lirena’s era, it is the center of the Harmonic Culture, a super-ancient maritime civilization whose people live for centuries and shape matter through acoustic resonance and cymatic engineering. Visible magic arcs along its energy roads as the city approaches collapse.
Plot
Avero has spent centuries moving through futures that no longer surprise him until he meets Lirena, a woman carrying family mementos from a past he cannot see. She wants to go home. He should be able to place her and cannot. Their investigation reveals that she comes from a bootstrap paradox only he could have created, and preserving her may require them to break the loop that made her.
